5 Tips to Personalize your Wedding Day

My mom loves her chocolate cake. My sister loves reading upon reading. My best friend is a Kate Spade feen. My Dad is obsessed with baseball/softball. And my husband is all about the 49ers and Giants. Everyone has their own favorite interest that makes them light up and sparkle. You and your love separately have your own. And together, you have a love that only describes and personifies your own special love. It is my mission, Rita Alexis Design, to help you create a wedding experience that exemplifies your love, in all of its nuances, personality, and style. As a designer and all-around creative, I absolutely love going "out of the traditional wedding box" when designing stationery, wedding day designs, and experiences for your big day.

Below I'll share some ideas of how YOU can personalize your wedding day! Because why in the world would you want to be like all those other Pins on Pinterest when you have so much more to offer!

5 TIPS TO PERSONALIZE YOUR WEDDING DAY

Theme

Your theme is the first and foremost what will be intrinsically brought into every aspect of every design AND it's where you can have the most fun! Bring in the fiance and ask yourselves what makes you and your love different. Bring out a pen and paper and write them all down. Here, you'll be able to pull together a direction you'd like to go in. For my husband and I, we knew we wanted it to be less traditional and more "party-like;" and with my whimsical style, we went for a whimsical party! Check it out here. For Jamie and Tito, a wedding decor and stationery I designed for, they both knew education would have a strong emphasis as they are both teachers and love all things education. Above you'll see the bookmarker save the dates and book invitations

Decor

Oh the possibilities are limitless here! My husband and I are HUGE sports fans (same sports teams too. And for the record, I grew up watching and playing these sports, so band-wagoner here ;P) We decided to label our table names our favorite sports players, and I illustrated them in the same whimsical fashion I did with all of the other decor. Additionally, our escort cards were a play on trading cards. Additionally, we decided to add posters about us "Did you Know?" -- fun little facts. Everyone really enjoyed them! You too, can do the same. Just think of little things that define your as a person or you together as a unit.

Music

This one is pretty straight forward. Since I was involved in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of my wedding, I literally chose out every song to include and sectioned them out per our timeline (before ceremony, after ceremony, cocktail, dinner, reception, etc) My husband and I had a blast picking out the music which ended up in some silly music-choosing nights. Of course, it has cater to a dancing vibe and want to get everyone off their seats, but if you like all country, by golly, play your country! If there's a song that is YOUR BFF song, put it in there and dance your tooshie off with your bridesmaids.

Favors

Favors are always fun to brainstorm! This is your little send-off to your guests for coming and a reminder of the night they had. A lot of couples go with the traditional branded glasses, desserts, or even magnets, and those are great if they perfectly describe you and your theme! My sister's wedding gave away lottery scratchers, which I thought was so unique! In keeping with our relaxed and whimsical party theme, we gave away mini piñata boxes filled with our favorite candies. (I'm half Mexican, so I loved it!)

Stationery

Now of course, I couldn't finish this post without chatting about how important stationery is to exemplifying YOUR LOVE and really the first touch to your wedding day experience (months before the big day!) Depending on your theme, you can really go in any direction! As I stated before, Jamie and Tito had the "book" theme, therefore we went with a Bookmark save the date and book invite! Day-of stationery was pretty fun, as well. The escort cards were the vintage library cards Rosa and Adam's wedding was very light hearted. Their save the dates were of their chucks (a staple in their outfits) and a sweet little drawing of them! You'll see the wooden grain was to pick up on their "Garden-like" venue.

You really can't go wrong with adding some personality and flare to your big day. Even if you're going with the most traditional route, there are always ways to inject you and your love. After all, it's not just anyone's wedding, it's YOURS! Show it off!

Best,
Rita
